From what's included in every pod to exactly how installation works — here's a complete guide to hiring a temporary kitchen in Melbourne.
Our certified team handles every connection. Here's exactly what happens on installation day.
Before we touch anything, our team carries out a thorough risk assessment and works with you to confirm the best placement for the pod on your driveway or designated area.
We connect a food-grade hygiene hose from your outdoor tap to the pod — up to 25 metres. Although mains tap water is generally safe, we filter it again inside the pod for drinking, cooking, and cleaning.
We install pipework on arrival to direct wastewater from the pod to your nearest greywater drain. A close drain is ideal, but a proper slope allows safe drainage over a short distance. If no drain is nearby, we can provide a removable waste caddy that requires daily emptying.
The pod is powered by two standard 10-amp cables that plug into normal power points at your property — just needs to be within 25 metres of the pod. No special wiring or electrician required on your end.
The oven and hob run on gas for efficient cooking. Our installers connect and test the gas supply, ensuring everything is fully functional and positioned safely in accordance with all relevant Australian safety standards.
Each pod is fitted with a safety switch (RCD) circuit board for added electrical protection. All connecting cables to your property are also RCD-protected. We won't leave until everything has passed our safety checklist.
Before confirming your booking, we'll ask for photos of your driveway and connection points. If you're in the Melbourne metro area, we can also arrange a free site visit.
An outdoor tap is required to supply water to the pod via a food-grade hose. No tap? Let us know and we can discuss options on a case-by-case basis.
Within 25 metres of the podTwo standard 10-amp power points are needed to run the pod's electrical appliances. These can be indoor or outdoor — just needs to be within 25 metres.
2 × standard 10-amp outletsA greywater drain is needed for wastewater from the sink, dishwasher, and washing machine. If none is within range, we can supply a removable waste caddy.
Within 15 metres of the podA minimum clear space is needed to position the pod safely. Most standard Melbourne driveways easily accommodate this. The pod cannot be placed on a public road or nature strip.

Not sure if yours qualifies? Send us photos and we'll confirm straight away — or we can arrange a free site visit for Melbourne metro bookings.
Every pod comes fully loaded with everything you need to cook, clean, and live comfortably from day one. Nothing extra to organise.
A full gas bottle is included with every hire, plus a spare in case the first runs out. For longer hires, if both bottles are used, we have an account with a gas supplier and can arrange delivery and installation of a replacement directly to your home.
Book a free call and we'll confirm your driveway setup, talk through your renovation dates, and provide a no-obligation quote — usually same day.
